The Cloud-Rider

First of all, let me begin by saying that throughout most of my life I read from a King James Bible. Just because that was the version with which I was raised and the one that was read from the pulpit in church. Whenever they started coming out with all these other versions, I was quick to point out that, "oh my gosh...you better be careful, they may have lost something in the translation...you could be missing a key word..." Eventually I broke down and bought a NEW King James Version. ha! It's basically the same except they've changed "Thee" and "Thou" to You. ...Making it a tad easier to understand.

This year - I've REALLY broken out of my comfort zone. I have chosen to read the Bible through this year using THE MESSAGE! Gasp! The Message?!...is that even a real Bible?! Easy language for easy understanding and interpretation and application. Sounds good.

This morning I read this from Psalm 68:
"When the righteous see God in action
they'll laugh, they'll sing,
they'll laugh and sing for joy.
Sing hymns to God, all heaven, sing out;
clear the way for the coming of Cloud-Rider.
Enjoy God, cheer when you see Him!"

I don't know about you - but I thought it was kinda cool that Jesus is named Cloud-Rider! I think that's a pretty awesome descriptive name for the One who is going to return riding on the clouds!

...Behold He comes, riding on the clouds, shining like the sun, at the trumpet call, so lift your voice, it's the year of Jubilee, out of Zion's hill Salvation comes!

I'm thinkin' I'm likin' this Message version!

A nice translation for when the language of today's people needs to be understood. Is everyone feeling better at your home?

Phyllis wanted a message bible, I researched it for months, every scripture I posted, I looked it up in the message to make sure it didn't lose the True meaning. Love the message

Hi Deb,

Like you, I grew up with nothing other than the King James Version. Also like you, I was beyond skeptical of the new translations. It took YEARS for me to come around and even READ anything else to give it a chance. Once I did, I've found I enjoy MANY versions at different times and for different uses. I haven't read much in The Message, but I believe I will be doing more after reading this post! Hope you guys are feeling better. BTW, I LOVE the name for Jesus....Cloud-Rider!!! How appropriate!

I know I've been away a long time. I've missed you!

Many hugs.......

Diane

Interestingly enough. Jesus stood before the High Priest who asked him to declare PLAINLY who you are. Jesus said "you will see the Son of Man riding on the clouds". Jesus was referring back to Daniel where it says that the"son of man will ride the clouds", this particular passage was saying that God Almighty is the cloud rider! That is why when Jesus claimed that title, the High Priest tore his robe and said that Jesus blasphemed.

Neat stuff huh?
